ZIEGRA`s Ice Age:
It all began more than 60 years ago
ZIEGRA was founded as a sales and service company for ice machines imported from the USA. It began as a general importer for these machines, which were unknown in Germany at the time, in the traditional way: one machine was sold in the first year, two in the second, and then things took off.
The first German machines developed by ZIEGRA were built in Berlin by DWM-Copeland.
Start of in-house production in Hanover.
The von Rohr family joins the company as a partner. Expansion of the machine sizes upwards to a daily output of 4,000 kg. In the lower range, the world's smallest laboratory ice cream machine to date with a daily output of 30 kg is introduced to the market.
Founding of the subsidiary in the UK, 80% of which is owned by Ziegra and managed by the local partner.
Development of the first container ice factory at the customer's request and in connection with the establishment of a modern fishing industry in Somalia after the “Landshut” hijacking.
Relocation of production to Isernhagen in the north of Hanover. The founder of the company, Mr. Ziegra, leaves the company.
1992 Founding of the subsidiary in Spain, which is also managed by the local partner.

Takeover of the shares of a family shareholder by the second generation, which is now in charge of the company's fortunes.
ZIEGRA starts using natural refrigerants for ice machines and becomes a pioneer for environmentally friendly ice machines.
Decision to build new company building and relocate to Kirchhorst (Isernhagen/Hanover)
In September 2019, the time had finally come to move into the modern new building at Sattlerstrasse 5, Isernhagen - Kirchhorst.
